Hi, I happen to read this blog today. This is so true yet so strange! My daughter is dyslexic and she went to a special summer camp just for dyslexic kids. During camp, she learned phonics, latin, and ...cursive writing (we called this type of handwriting cursive in North America)! I was puzzled why the camp put some much efforts in this as she was already a grade 9 student at that time. After the camp, her reading and writing improved significantly. Yet something strange had happened that I don't understand for years, until now, reading your blog. Her writings are so much better whenever she uses cursive writing! It's very strange. Even now, if she writes in block letter, or even type, her writings style down grade to primary school level (sometimes, worse than that, with loads of spelling errors). But when she switches back to cursive, her writings immediately becomes professional and proper! I don't understand why this is so until now! It's amazing to see how schools in UK recognize this behaviour of the brain! Schools in North America still mainly view cursive writing as calligraphy only.
